When there is a new life. There must be a new life.

Uncontrollable laughter swept the floor of Anambra state House of Assembly last Tuesday as Lawmakers under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) abandoned the plenary and walked-out angrily while the session was on-progress.

The Lawmakers, Hon. Tonyoneweek Mounagor, representing Idemili North Constituency and Hon. Kenechukwu Chukwuemeka of Awka South 1. Constituency, vacated the hallow chamber last Tuesday while Hon. Chugbo Enwezor (APGA), Onitsha North 1 constituency rose to commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigerian Police, the Nigerian Youth Social Corp members (NYSC) for the successful conduct of the November 16thgubernatorial poll in the state.

Hon. Enwezor who also described as unconstitutional and baseless, the call for cancellation of the governorship election by some political parties and aggrieved individuals, noted that section 1, subsection 3 of electoral act has no such provision since the Presiding Officers, party agents and the electorates were present while it was announced at collation centers.

Continuing, the Lawmaker who doubles as Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, said the election was the most freest and fair he ever witnessed in his lifetime even as he extolled the electoral umpire for going ahead to fix supplementary poll on 30th November as a way of correcting anomalies witnessed at some polling units.

Orient Daily observed that the APC Lawmakers at their separate chambers, quickly and quietly picked their files and left in succession immediately the APGA chieftain pronounced “Mr. Speaker, I want to Commend INEC…” to the amusement of their colleagues-APGA and PDP members including the general public who sat at Gallery as they burst into excessive laughter.

Maintaining the stand of his colleagues under the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Ebele Ejiofor of Anaocha one Constituency in an interview, disclosed that the landslide victory recorded by his party (APGA) on the said election was as a result of “Governor Peter Obi's giant strides in all sector of the state economy”, vowing that the party would win again and again even if they reschedule it.

The battle for the last 5 is as tricky as gunning for the ultimate crown. Sooner or later, many favourites would have to see the exit door, as painful as it is, it is an inevitability that cannot be avoided. It is the name of the game: there will be losers and winners.
Now, we have witnessed another dramatic week of surprises, intrigues and pure bravado. The set-up we had last week isn’t what have shaped out this week. There has been a number of changes:
Tonto Dikeh: After having been shocked and stunned by Stephanie Okereke last week, the controversial actress and singer is back on top, fighting tooth and nail to claw her way back to the top.
sexiest10a
Stephanie Okekere: She gain the first spot last week but overdone again by Tonto’s bravado to reclaim her spot. She has only lost a few steps and stands on good ground to fight all the way.
Ebube Nwagbo: All attention is on Tonto and Stephanie, running the race neck to neck and nobody is watching how dangerously close Ebube is getting to the duo. She remains restive on 3rd but closer to the first two stronger than ever.
Yvonne Nelson: Yvonne still has her hand on the 4th spot but not without a challenge from Colette who is running wild at 5th. Here, is another duo that may be worth watching.
Colette Orji: Ever since Colette has been able to out-muscled Angela Okorie on the 5th spot she seems to have develop some sort of belief and she is pushing higher than ever.
Cynthia Agholor: I said Cynthia has remained in the game only because she has learnt to play the game with the ruthlessness it demands. This week, she was simply outstanding and too hot to handle as she leapfrogged two spots to jump to six.
Queeneth Hilbert: Just like Cynthia, Queeneth too has demonstrated some ruthlessness to remain in the game. The duo were very much at each other’s throats this week, bundling their way into the next positions.
Angela Okoria: What could be said of Angela, a lacklustre outing in the last couple of weeks have seen her lots plummeted. Her fighting spirit seems to be all-time low.
Men
Yul Edochie: Even though Ramsey and Benson are doing the best they could, the guy continues to make them look like they aren’t trying hard enough, or are they?
Ramsey Nouah: This top actor will need to do more than just sitting around, hoping the game will cheer him on. With more outing like he has been having the last couple of weeks, Benson might just be given the right of way he has been honking for.
Benson Okonkwo: Benson continues to push but the harder he pushes the more Uti seems to be enjoying the sight of him. He is still doing fine at third and probably having a look into second. With a couple of weeks to go, anything can happen.
Uti Nwachukwu: Uti has been asking questions for sometime now and right now he seems to be getting some answers. He took advantage of Pope’s lacklustre week to upstage him and here he is on 4th and looking to do more damage.
Pope Odowondo: Pope was having a bit of a wrestle with Benson until Benson got other ideas, leaving Pope behind and now it seems it’s not only Benson that will leave him, even Uti has his pound of flesh. He is 5th now.
sexiest10
Odunlade Adekola: It was a huge week for Odunlade Adekola who moved three places to clinch the 6th place, taking off Van Vicker, Ali Nuhu and Frank Artus. He has been blowing hot and cold too but this week was his hottest to date.
Mike Ezuruonye: For Mike, it has become a never ending story of eviction that never happened. He was the last man of the last ten yet he survived. Then he was the last ninth man expected to go out last week and again he didn’t. Now he sits on 7th, stunning Frank, and Ali Nuhu
Ali Nuhu: Ali too is a specimen capable of anything. We have seen much of that in this quest to rule him out just yet.

Militants to Benin Republic govt: Release Asari-Dokubo or…

By Soni Daniel, Regional Editor, North
A group loyal to the Niger Delta activist, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, NDPVF, has warned the authorities of Benin Republic to free the former militant leader or be ready to face its wrath.
The Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, NDPVF, issued the warning, signed by its leaders, Mr. Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro in Abuja last night, follo-wing the arrest and detention of Dokubo in an unknown location since Tuesday afternoon.
The arrogance of Shekau and his group is unislamic. Which President if not Goodluck, will accept somebody to tell him to become a Muslim or resign?
Asari-Dokubo
NDPVF, which also likened the arrest to a kidnap by the authori-ties, said that they were appalled by the unprovoked breach of the fundamental rights of the youth leader.
It said: “We hold this arrest as an absurdity. It is unprovoked and questionable and has been without any reason from the government of Republic of Benin.
“We consider this as a kidnap of our leader by the President of Republic of Benin working with certain opposition figures in Nigeria.
“We hereby make demand on President Yayi Bonni of the Republic of Benin to release, unconditionally and with immediate effect, our leader Alhaji  Asari-Dokubo and offer unreserved apology to him for this monumental breach of his rights.
“We call on all the aggrieved youths of Niger Delta to be on red alert and ready for a total showdown and shut down if in the next 48 hours his release has not been made.
“We call on the President of the Nigerian union to mediate on this potential diplomatic row that may lead to an unprecedented conflagration.”

Lagos Airport TODAY: FAAN terminates contract with private toll collector

Lagos Airport: FAAN terminates contract with private toll collector
By LOUIS IBA
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) yesterday took over operations at the access tollgate of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos signaling the termination of the contract with concessionaire, I-Cube West Africa Limited.
The firm had sealed a contract with FAAN about five years ago to manage the toll plaza and remit about N40 million monthly under a bank guaranteed arrangement.
But spokesperson of FAAN, Yakubu Dati, who confirmed the takeover of the tollgate by the agency, said the concessionaire had failed to meet the monthly target remittance as well as effect expansion work on the tollgate.
“In the period while the firm managed the toll plaza, it was unable to meet its agreed monthly obligation to FAAN, in addition to the failure to carry out expansion work on the toll plaza,” said Dati.
Dati said it was FAAN that had to embark on a massive expansion of the toll plaza to accommodate more vehicles as well as ease the flow of traffic along the ever-busy airport road.
“The takeover of the access tollgate brings to an end the management contract of the toll plaza by one of its concessionaires: I-Cube West Africa Limited,” he added.
Dati said the takeover was imperative in line with ongoing efforts to boost revenue generation for FAAN.
He said the personnel of the commercial department of FAAN have formally commenced the management of the six-lane toll plaza, which he said had been automated for efficiency.
He said the management of the toll plaza at the Lagos Airport by FAAN personnel would enhance the revenue of the authority as well as improve commercial offering in non-aeronautical areas.
The FAAN spokesman also said work has reached advanced stage at the new access toll plaza at the cargo/hajj camp axis of the airport.
In the last two years, FAAN has revoked most of the contracts awarded by the previous administration of Olusegun Obasanjo over what it describes as “lopsided nature of the contracts” which tended to favour the concessionaire against the interest of the government and aviation sector parastatals. Most of those cases are still subject of litigations in courts.

Comedian Julius Agwu sues Etisalat for N100m over blocked line

Comedian Julius Agwu has dragged telecoms giant Etisalat to court for blocking his business line. He is demanding for N100million as compensation for jobs lost, contact lost, for the inconveniences, and for being mistreated by Etisalat staff. Below is a statement from his lawyer, Festus Keyamo...
We are solicitors to Mr. Julius Agwu, one of Nigeria's most sought after entertainers (hereinafter referred to as "our client") and on whose behalf we write.
Our client is the owner of the Etisalat GSM phone number 08189555555, which he uses as his business line. On the 8th of October, 2013, our client travelled out of the country and returned on the 17th of the same month. Upon his return, he tried severally to make calls from the aforestated GSM line but same could not connect. Not only could he not make calls, he also could not receive calls on the said GSM line. This continued for some days until he got a message that his line had been blocked by the network provider.

Sequel to the above message, our client promptly visited your Abuja office at Hilton to report the matter. He was attended to by one Miss Joan, who informed him that somebody swapped his line. After our client successfully answered the security questions put to him, he was informed that his line had been restored, but the credit balance on the line was not returned.

Surprisingly, our client's aforestated line was blocked again after he left your said Abuja office. Once again our client visited your office at the local wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Ikeja, Lagos to lodge a complaint, but painfully, nothing was done about it.

However, after sometime, our client was invited for a meeting at your head office in Lagos on the 14th of November, 2013 which he duly honoured. Present at the meeting (in addition to the officials of your organization) was Mr. Mobolaji Okusaga, the Managing Director of The Quadrant Company, in his capacity as media agents/managers for Etisalat Nigeria.

At the end of the meeting, our client was told for the umpteenth time that they would get back to him, which they again failed to do.

LOSS OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

It cannot be over emphasized that your actions of unlawfully blocking and/or swapping our client's line occasioned loss of business opportunities to him. As you are aware, our client as one of the most sought after Nigerian entertainers needs his phone line to be easily accessible to keep his business going. It therefore goes without saying that our client has lost some business opportunities as a result of your actions.

TAKE NOTICE that we have our client's firm instruction to demand and hereby demand the sum of N100,000,000.00 (One Hundred Million Naira) as compensation for the loss of business opportunities and the inconvenience caused our client by reason of your unlawful and unjustified blocking and/or swapping of our client's Etisalat GSM phone line.

TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that in the event that you fail, refuse or neglect to accede to our above stated demand within seven (7) days from the receipt of this letter, we shall be compelled to set in motion against you, all legal machineries necessary to obtain legal remedy for our client.

Thank you.
Yours sincerely,

FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.

New Music: 2face Idibia – Rainbow Remix ft. T-Pain

http://modemenmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/2face-ft-t-pain.jpg

The hit track Rainbow from 2face Idibia now has a remix with American super star, T-Pain. 2face has been one of the biggest names in entertainment over the past 10 years, and you knew something like this was bound to happen sooner or later.
T-Pain does pretty well on the remix, and add his own spice to the already lovable joint. From all indications this will further catapult the song to a mega hit status.
Enjoy!

Ex-Eagles star, lloenyosi’s dad kidnapped

Ex-Eagles star, lloenyosi’s dad kidnapped
By JOE APU
Just when many Nigerians seem to have relaxed and forgotten the tortuous experience of the kidnapp of John Mikel Obi’s father, another player has fallen victim. This time, the case of kidnap is that of former Nigerian central defender, Chikelue lloenyosi’s dad, Chief James Chikelue lloenyosi who is reported to have been kidnapped on Monday at his country home, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The 83-year old man was picked up by armed men in a Toyota Camry car around 8.30am just two poles to the house on his way back from the Catholic morning mass service.
lloenyosi said the family has established contact with the dad’s kidnappers who have put forward a whopping N50 million price tag as a precondition for his release.
“My dad was picked up by men suspected to be kidnappers on Monday around 8.30am just two buildings away from his house on his way back from morning mass.
“The armed men came in a Toyota Camry car and scared neighbours who came out en masse to rescue my dad with ferocious gun shots.
“We’ve established contact with the kidnappers and even spoke with our dad who appeared unhurt as at the moment but passionately pleaded with us to act quick before something unsavoury happens to him.
“The kidnappers have tabled a staggering N50 million price tag for his release.
“We’ve appealed to them to come down on their demand but they’re unyielding insisting that we must cough out the sum if we wish to see our dad alive.
“We’re continuing with the appeal believing that something will touch their hearts to come up with an amount we could afford to get our dad released.
“My dad is not a politician as these men pounce on anybody that catches their fancy. We pray they’ll have a change of heart as we don’t have that kind of money they’re asking,” lamented the former Enugu Rangers man to supersport.com.
The old lloenyosi holds the traditional title as ‘Akuluno 1 of Abagana.’
