Be ready to face consequences of treason, Presidency warns APC
We have noted with utter disdain, the reckless and irresponsible call by the APC on Sunday for the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against President Goodluck Jonathan.
Ordinarily, we would not have dignified Alhaji Lai Mohammed’s latest vituperations in the service of his paymasters with a response, but we thought it necessary to warn that the Federal Government will not standby idly and let the nation be plunged into unnecessary crises and political instability because of the desperation and apparent readiness of the APC spokesman and his gang of power-seeking desperadoes to sacrifice the well-being of the country on the altar of their selfish personal ambitions.
The Presidency totally condemns the decision by Alhaji Mohammed and his
party to move further beyond the bounds of honourable and acceptable political
conduct with the senseless call for the impeachment of a President who
continues to sincerely devote himself to the discharge of the sacred mandate
freely given to him by Nigerians.
The APC, which remains a minority party with doubtful credentials in the
National Assembly, knows fully well that its attempt to hector and blackmail a Parliament
dominated by loyal members of the President’s party, the PDP, into an
impeachment process, will come to nothing.
But it has cavalierly embarked on this outrageous gambit, with scant
regard for peace, order, security and political stability in the country, in
furtherance of its dastardly and heinous
strategy of over-heating the polity and working to cause public disaffection
against the Jonathan Presidency with
lies, false accusations and unjustifiable indictments ahead of the 2015 general elections.
The emptiness and hollowness of the APC’s call for President Jonathan’s
impeachment will be obvious to all objective and discerning Nigerians who read through
the statement issued by Alhaji Mohammed today. It was long on self-serving
rhetoric and falsehoods, but lacked a single clearly defined charge on the
basis of which any plausible impeachment proceedings against the President can
be initiated.
All that the APC could offer in justification of its absurd and
hare-brained impeachment call was a rehash of its well-worn litany of baseless
accusations against the President, including some for which culpability should be
laid squarely at the doorsteps of its own leaders and some of their new
friends.
The Presidency also considers it utterly deplorable that the APC has, in
its Machiavellian desperation to seize control of the Federal Government, recklessly
assailed the integrity and honour of the Nigerian Judiciary in a callous
attempt to pre-empt the outcome of the case legitimately brought against it by some of
its new friends by the PDP.
Alhaji
Mohammed’s unscrupulous effort to drag the nation’s judiciary
into its murky political warfare and his readiness to intimidate and
blackmail members of the bench so as to secure a favourable
outcome for his party in the pending case clearly shows that nothing is
beyond
the pale for him and the APC in pursuit of their quest for power.
The Jonathan Administration does not need Lai Mohammed or the APC to
remind it of its constitutional responsibility for the security and well-being
of Nigerians. The President will continue to do his utmost best to achieve
positive national transformation in all areas in spite of efforts by the
opposition to thwart or disparage the work of his administration.
In this regard, we have noted the undisguised threat by the APC to
foster public insurrection against the Federal Government if pending legal
cases go against it. We urge Nigerians to take special note of this
boastful indication of an intention to resort to lawlessness.
The Presidency
warns that the APC and any persons who make themselves its
willing tools for the breach of public order and safety will be made to face
the full sanctions of the law. Those who are threatening fire
and brimstone should be ready for consequences of treasonable action.
The APC's
false copy-cat allegation that 1, 000
snipers are being trained by the Jonathan Administration clearly shows that
they are now in cahoots with some other
elements who are bent on discrediting this administration and inciting the
public against it.
President Jonathan is running a
people's government. He does not need any snipers. His legitimacy comes from the
people. Those who are alleging the existence of snipers should step forward and
provide the evidence or shut up forever and go down in history as spineless
cowards, driven by sheer greed and indecency.
We dismiss the APC’s
call for the President’s impeachment as opportunistic, partisan and
ill-motivated.
We call on patriots to make the necessary
distinction between such reckless violations of civic duty and the urgent need
to protect the integrity of the Nigerian nation against those who for selfish
reasons have declared their readiness to stop at nothing.

Radar Online blasts Mariah Carey for performing in Nigeria, calls us 'the world's center of bank fraud & human trafficking'
Unbelievable. Can't believe some of the things these people write. US gossip site Radar Online yesterday scolded Mariah Carey in an article posted on their site, saying she shouldn't have accepted to do a gig in a country known for 'terror, death and fraud'. What nonsense, they can talk when the US is the number one crime capital of the world. Read the Radar Online article below...
Mariah Carey proudly posted a pic of herself in a slinky yellow dress and wrote, “Backstage in Nigeria” on Saturday. But maybe the songbird should have done some homework before agreeing to the gig?
Her show was at Access Bank’s Christmas Party which was also a farewell bash for the bank’s managing director. And while Access Bank is a reputable financial institution, should Carey have known a few basics about the African nation before taking the paycheck?
Ironically — given that she was performing for bankers — it seems Carey wasn’t aware Nigeria is well-known as the center of the world’s email financial crimes! Nigeria is even part of the name — as in “Nigerian 411 Scams.”Nigeria is also, according to the United Nations, the hub of human trafficking as “a source, destination and transit country.
AND, just for good measure, there are mass killings going on in two Nigerian states right now, and according to Human Rights Watch, the violence is being ignored by federal authorities.
“Systemic corruption in the Nigeria Police Force” is the problem, a HRW spokesperson told CNN.
Carey isn’t the first performer who has taken a paycheck for appearing in countries known for terror, death and fraud.

The men, said to members of a cult group known as Blue Angel, saw the girl as she was returning from school, they stopped her, took her to their hideout and raped her. All six of them. They recorded the act with a mobile phone and threatened to post the video online if she told anyone what happened.
Fortunately she did and two of the rapists, Wale Fadahunsi, 28, and Banji Olaseinde, 25, have been arrested, while four others are on the run. Those on the run include Tope Oluwole; Tope Jigan and Muyideen. The two that were arrested were paraded a few days ago where they confessed to raping the helpless girl whose identity is being concealed because of her age. Watch the video after the cut..

Soliloquies by Charly Boy
The journey from the village was very hectic, as I had to travel a dusty road to Owerri before catching the small plane that was made available by the airline. I was famished (not for the snack on board), and needed to just soak myself in bubble bath.
As soon as I got home from the airport, I rushed into the shower so I could quickly settle to the sumptuous meal quietly waiting for me downstairs at the dining.
I felt relieved with the shower, leaving water streaks on my body and in my birthday suit, I made for my walk-in closet which is right across my open plain bath area.
Midway, a man stands tall looking
right into my eyes.
Ahh, what is this, who are you?
This Male bears a lot of
semblance with me, physically and as I will conclude hereafter,
psychologically, socially, materially, even spiritually.
How I connect with this being is
a spiritual thing! We have a lot in common, too much!
He's sometimes mischievous, just
like me, fascinated by magic and hocus-pocus; dogged, stubborn, tenacious and
what have you.
Vulnerable in many ways, but he
has found grand ways of covering his own back, since not many people will do
that for you these days.
I see a lot of me in him.
He gets his hand in almost any
and every pie, many times burning not only his fingers; but one thing is, he
stands by his actions and intents any day. What he believes in, he resides in.
He identifies a good cause and, off he goes; even when others in the same cause
begin to drag.
He's a stickler for order and
decency, a very organized soul, passionate with whatever he agrees to put his
weight behind.
A lot of times, close associates,
even family members wonder why he be-labors himself with matters that don't
concern him directly, after all, the ‘baddest’ cabals and cartels fear him, no
one would dare dare him.
If he believes in you, he can
love you forever, stay by you through thick and thin.
A lover of life and living, too
meticulous about health and cleanliness; yet he stoops even in the lowest of
dungeons to pull up wasting souls wallowing in murky, dirty waters.
Though he has fears, of varying
dimensions, he's never afraid to confront them, never afraid to tackle, to
dribble, even when he stumbles!
He's the only one who knows how
fast his heart beats when he confronts a new challenge or venture, but then, he
has mastered the art of dealing with stage fright or shyness that it's so difficult
for even his closest skin to believe he can be afraid or shy, in very trying
circumstances.
I often tell him he's a Master at
his game...very daring!
This dude is not one you may
refer to as possessing a handsome face, but he's certainly a Hot Bod (body),
spending hours in the gym to ensure that no part is rickety, while donning a
skin so smooth and velvety like that of a newborn.
This body is to die for!
He says it himself; he is so
vain; dedicating ample time to taking care of his external, so that the true
internal is not misrepresented.
I thought I was so hungry and
couldn't wait to finish my shower but here I am, standing in front of this man,
in the nude, by now the water on me is all dried up, standing in front of this
enigma, staring each other in the face!
I realize, I don't just bear a
semblance with this Dude, I'm actually he and he is me.
In front of my gigantic antic
mirror that stands tall on the wall between my bathroom and my walk-in closet,
I stopped to look at the guy in the mirror.
Lost in thought, standing in
front of me. I see Me!
